- Balloon PopWhen I played this today I set some of the cards as + and some as -. When the timer sounded the last card showed if the class would gain or lose balloons. I then had a volunteer roll a dice to see how many balloons they won or lost. I found this worked quite well!
- Timer DiceOne of the teachers I work with had an interesting idea for a rule. We played it for the whole game but it would also work as a rule escalation from the original game. Instead of students choosing flashcards based on what ones they like or feel like choosing, they place all the cards face down and choose random ones. The cards remain face down until the end of the rounds. When the final round is finished, they then turn the cards over and calculate their scores.
- Lucky DiceEach student in the group has a number. For example, in a 4 person group, a student is number 1, another is number 2, another number 3 and another number 4. When the die is rolled, if a 2 is rolled, the student who is number 2 in the group gets 1 point. If a 3 is rolled then student number 3 gets 1 point and so forth. I'm not the best at explaining things so I hope this made sense!
- Touch GameWe played this at Fujioka with two variations: - Students are in pairs and each student gets 1 dice. When the flashcard is touched, students roll their dice. The student who rolls the highest number gets 1 point (merging touch game with dice battle) - Students each get 1 dice and the teacher has a dice. When the flashcard is touched, each students rolls their dice as does the teacher. If a student rolls higher than the teacher, they get 1 point. If they roll the same or lower, 0 points. These variations can be played for as long or as short as needed
