Comments by Paul:
- Discard GameYes that's right! The longer it takes to draw the keyword card, the more points you get!
- Touch GameThis game was Russell's idea! Apologies if any of the details are wrong.
- Boss GameThis game was Trevor's idea! Apologies if any of the details are wrong.
- Unit PlanningThis is really useful, thank you! To add on to your point about sharing plans, this website has the option to submit unit plans! It's still early and functionality is being added, but I'm certainly open to feedback on making it as easier to use. Comments are also available for these pages, which I think gives a useful avenue for discussion and development. It's worth noting that sharing 'imperfect' plans is just as valuable as ones you may feel are more 'finalised'. Iteration is important and we also need to account for various restrictions and circumstances outside of our control, as well as explore various ideas whether they were successful or not (and why)!
- Communication Goals ExplanationThanks Lucy! Like you say, I really find having the goals set up clearly for the students makes all the difference. I imagine most of us find it more difficult to keep the goals as prominent in junior high school, but they were trained to do it consistently (in a way they can understand easily) from elementary school it does tend to help keep things going as they get older!
- Pointing GameOne way that might help reduce complaints is to have the timer be a secret to the HRT, so they wouldn't know when time would be up! You'd have to make it obvious to the students that it was a secret though!
